As one of the most prominent forms of three-dimensional art, sculpture has the ability to energize any space. It stimulates conversation, excites the imagination, and gives your home an inviting feel. There are many things to consider before purchasing an artwork:

  • How long will it last? Throughout history, clay has been an integral art medium. It endures beautifully, many of the great works during the Greek and Etruscan eras where created from clay. Other very early clay sculptures, such as the Emperor of Qin's 'Terracotta Army' (c. 210-209 BC), horses and figures from the early Chinese dynasties, and ancienct Mayan vessels still exist today.

  • What kind of feel do I want portrayed? Clay is an inviting, earthy material. The only other material that can possibly match its warmth is wood. Sculptures from Equus Studio incorporate both, the earthy clay sculpture finished out with a wooden base. This combination comes together to create a warm, calming effect that compliments many different decors.

  • Is the artwork unique? Clay as a medium has a unique feel, it is well suited to figurative sculpture because of the wide range of emotion and movement that can be captured. In addition to being a unique medium, original clay sculptures are one-of-a-kind. At Equus Studio, all our sculptures are original, made by hand. This means no molds are used to create or copy the artworks, they are completely unique and one-of-a-kind.
